It's been 8 years since I optimistically opened the doors of Sole Sister Shoes. In that 8 years I have met and spoken with more women than I care to count about their excruciating pain from Plantar Fasciitis.
I am so excited to have finally found a shoe that actually offers almost instant relief.
I have a medical background but have to admit it has only been since selling shoes at Sole Sister Shoes have I become acutely aware of issues causing foot pain.
Just briefly, the plantar fascia is a thick, ligament that connects your heel to the front of your foot. It supports the arch of your foot and helps you walk. ... Too much pressure on your feet can damage or tear the ligaments; the plantar fascia becomes inflamed, and the inflammation causes heel pain and stiffness.
I have personally experienced 6 months of pain from Plantar Fasciitis. That was before I knew what I know now.
The following shoe brands are my go to for anyone with sore feet and pain from Plantar Fasciitis.
Birkenstock: Birkenstock Sandals offer Orthotic Footbed Capabilities: A lovely deep heel cup to hold the heel in place, a pronounced arch support and a cork sole for shock absorbing. Personally, I only recommend wearing Birkenstock Sandals once your acute pain has subsided. Birkenstocks do tend to be hard underfoot which I have found to be irritating to an already inflamed foot. Birkenstock Sandals come in a variety of colours and styles.
Ziera: Ziera has an amazing range of shoes to fit every foot and wardrobe. The levels of arch support do vary from light level support to high level arch support. With their orthotic footbed, Ziera are a must for every day use in order to support and cushion your sore foot. Ziera offer comfortable work shoes, as well as more dressy or casual shoes. Take a look at our range of Ziera Shoes here.
Oofos: Oofos are the "piece de resistance" and the essential footwear to relieve your Plantar Fasciitis pain. Oofos are a medical shoe designed to allow your foot to recover. Your foot is cradled in the oofos and is allowed to rest which is fabulous for a sore and inflamed foot. Oofos have a pronounced arch support. They also have a slightly curved front which assist you into your step and gives the toes and under foot a break from all it's hard work. The greatest benefit to the oofos is the high density foam which gives an amazing level of softness underfoot and actually reduces the strike down pressure by 30%. This gives instant relief to someone with inflamed plantar fascia - or Plantar Fasciitis. I recommend to at least wear your oofos around the home in your downtime, especially while your pain is acute. If you're ok with it, wear them as much as you can out and about also. Oofos are not the prettiest of shoes but boy oh boy, when you're in pain you will do whatever it takes to relieve it.
Rieker Rieker are a German engineered shoe. They are engineered to distribute the weight evenly across your foot. Rieker to some gorgeous casual and dressy styles and are superbly comfortable.
Naot : Naot are hand made in Israel. The have a gorgeously soft orthotic footbed - deep heel cup and arch support.
So in summary, what I would recommend:
Acute phase: Oofos at home and whenever you can during the really painful phase. Have your oofos beside the bed for when you first get up ( as we all now how excruciating that is ). During the day at work or out and about get yourself some Ziera, Rieker or Naot to be supported in ( and look great).
Recovery phase: Oofos around the house and dabble in Birkenstocks, Ziera and Rieker Shoes for your casual, and dressy looks.
All the best! If you have any questions, please ask. I always happy to help!
Thanks and Love, Melissa - Sole Sister Shoes
